You may be relieved, but your boss isn’t PDF Print E-mail

A U.S. federal judge has stopped Arizona’s new immigration law from being implemented. The law would have required police officers in Arizona to question the immigration status or show valid residency papers when questioning suspects breaking any state law, including routine traffic stops.

Written by Jorge E. Luna Domínguez

0410el_luna-dominguez_1Fresh cows are the most fragile group on the dairy, and ensuring their proper care is critical for lactation success. A cow that completes a successful transition period will attain high peak milks, become pregnant earlier in lactation and be less likely to succumb to reproductive and milk quality challenges.

Cows that experience a difficult transition period are at higher risk of disease, reproductive struggles and even culling.

So how do we guarantee a successful transition through calving to milking? Producers need to plan and manage for success, even before a cow reaches the dry pen from her previous lactation.
